ADC chieftain alleges irregularities in Tinubu’s academic records
A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Kalu Kalu, has alleged that President Bola Tinubu’s academic records contain irregularities, following the publication of the President’s nomination documents by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) ahead of the 2027 general election.
Kalu made the claims on Monday while speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today.
His comments followed the release of the personal particulars of presidential candidates by INEC, in which President Tinubu listed his Bachelor of Science degree from Chicago State University but did not include details of his primary and secondary school education in the educational qualifications section.
According to Kalu, documents previously obtained from Chicago State University by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar’s legal team raised questions about the President’s educational history.
“Everything about President Bola Tinubu’s certificate is shrouded in forgery. Today, what do we have in Tinubu’s records? There is no information as to his primary school or his secondary school,” Kalu alleged.
He further claimed that records from Chicago State University indicated that Tinubu stated he attended Government College, Lagos, and alleged that the timeline surrounding the school’s establishment was inconsistent.
Kalu also alleged that a General Certificate of Education (GCE) submitted to the university was not authentic and referenced details contained in Tinubu’s 1999 election documents regarding his primary and secondary education.
The allegations are not new and have previously featured in political and legal disputes involving the President’s academic credentials.
President Tinubu has consistently maintained that his Chicago State University degree is genuine. The university has also confirmed that he graduated from the institution, while Nigerian courts have previously dismissed several legal challenges relating to his qualifications.
As of the time of filing this report, the Presidency had not responded to Kalu’s latest remarks.
