2027: Makinde meets Obasanjo in Abeokuta over national issues

Oyo State Governor and Allied Peoples Movement (APM) presidential candidate, Seyi Makinde, on Sunday met with former President Olusegun Obasanjo in Abeokuta, Ogun State, amid political realignments ahead of the 2027 general election.

Makinde disclosed the meeting in a post on his official Facebook page.

The governor was accompanied by former Ekiti State Governor, Kayode Fayemi, and former Osun State Governor, Olagunsoye Oyinlola.

According to Makinde, the meeting focused on national issues in the build-up to the 2027 general election.

“Earlier today, we visited Baba, His Excellency Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, GCFR, in Abeokuta.

“Our discussions centred on important national issues in view of the upcoming general election. We appreciate Baba for his wise counsel at this crucial time in our nation’s history,” he wrote.

The meeting comes amid increasing political consultations ahead of the 2027 elections.

Makinde, who is serving his second and final term as governor of Oyo State, formally declared his intention to contest the 2027 presidential election in May.
