The Osun State chapter of the Accord has commended the Inspector General of Police, IGP Tunji Disu, for his swift intervention in the security situation in the state, while urging the police authorities to immediately arrest a suspected APC thug, Kazeem Oyewale, popularly known as “Asiri Eniba,” and members of his alleged gang over reported acts of violence.

The State Chairman of the party, Pastor Victor Akande, who stated this in a statement issued on Friday, said the IGP’s intervention had reassured law-abiding residents that the Nigeria Police remained committed to protecting lives and property, regardless of political affiliations.

Akande said the party appreciated the prompt response of the police hierarchy to the security concerns raised by Governor Ademola Adeleke, describing the move as a demonstration of commitment to maintaining peace, law, and order in Osun State.

While applauding the intervention, the Accord chairman insisted that the exercise should go beyond surveillance and deployment of security personnel, urging the police to ensure the immediate arrest of Asiri Eniba and members of his alleged gang over accusations of violence, intimidation, harassment and attacks on innocent citizens across the state.

According to him, the continued freedom allegedly enjoyed by the suspects had emboldened them to constitute a threat to public peace and security, stressing that no individual should be above the law because of perceived political connections.

He further called on the Inspector General of Police to order a thorough investigation into the allegations and reported criminal activities involving the suspects, urging that anyone found culpable should be prosecuted in accordance with the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Akande maintained that the Accord remained committed to peaceful politics and democratic ideals, adding that democracy could only thrive where the rule of law prevailed.

He also urged security agencies to remain neutral, professional and uncompromising in dealing with criminality, irrespective of the identities or political affiliations of those involved.

The party reiterated its appreciation to the Inspector General of Police for what it described as his timely intervention and urged him to sustain the momentum by ensuring that all those responsible for acts of violence were apprehended and made to face the full weight of the law.
