A chieftain of the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC), Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has dismissed allegations that he is secretly working for President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

Kwankwaso described the claim as baseless, saying only people with poor judgment would believe such allegations.

He spoke during an interview on Global Television on Wednesday while reacting to comments credited to the spokesperson to Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf, Sanusi Bature.

Bature had alleged that Kwankwaso was working behind the scenes to support President Tinubu’s re-election bid.

Responding, the former Kano State governor denied the allegation and insisted that his focus remains on the Nigerian Democratic Congress.

“I think only foolish people would believe that,” Kwankwaso said.

“They have been saying it, especially when we were in the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP). Now, they will realise we are very serious people.

“I’m not conversant with anybody working for anyone. We are working for the NDC and our blueprint is there for everybody to see.”

He added that the party was focused on key national issues, including insecurity and education.

“They are things like what we intend to do, ranging from tackling insecurity to the issue of education among others,” he said.
