APC primaries: Tinubu pleased with party process – Yilwatda
National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, says President Bola Tinubu is satisfied with the conduct of the party’s ongoing primary elections across the country.
Yilwatda disclosed this on Wednesday after meeting with President Tinubu in Lagos.
According to him, the large number of aspirants participating in the APC primaries reflects the party’s growing popularity and acceptance among Nigerians.
He said the level of participation demonstrates that many Nigerians see the APC as their preferred political platform.
Yilwatda also commended party members and stakeholders for maintaining discipline during the exercise, noting that complaints and incidents recorded during the primaries had been minimal.
“The President was very impressed with the logistics we deployed across the country, the tactics we’ve used,” he said.
“He has also been very impressed with the reduced number of incidents that we have across the country. He’s happy with what we’re doing.”
The APC has commenced primary elections for various elective positions ahead of next year’s general elections.
The party chairman said the conduct of the primaries further highlighted the APC’s competitive internal democratic process, with many aspirants contesting for limited positions nationwide.
