Kwara APC stakeholders petition national chairman over ‘unauthorised’ primary result
Stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress in Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State have passed a vote of no confidence in the party’s local chairman, Mr James Ajibola, over the alleged unauthorised release of House of Representatives primary election results.
The stakeholders accused Ajibola of acting in defiance of party procedures and directives from the national leadership.
The development was contained in a petition submitted to the APC National Chairman by the Ekiti Elders and Stakeholders Forum.
The petition was signed by Alhaji Olaiya Mohammed Bello and Chief J.B. Ayeni on behalf of the group.
According to the petitioners, Ajibola and members of his executive committee allegedly released the primary election results before the official announcement by the party’s authorised national organs.
They described the action as a violation of party discipline capable of causing confusion and internal crisis within the APC in the state.
“Our party’s rules are not suggestions; they are the backbone of our unity,” the petition stated.
“When local leaders act like they are above the party, they replace democratic process with personal ambition. We will not allow that.”
The stakeholders further alleged that the premature announcement had already created tension among party members and weakened local alliances.
They warned that failure to address the issue could undermine internal democracy within the party.
“This is not merely a procedural lapse — it is an assault on the integrity of the APC. Those responsible must be made to answer,” the petition added.
“Suspension or expulsion should be on the table where guilt is proven.”
The group also argued that allowing such actions to go unpunished would weaken the authority of the party’s national leadership.
“Allowing rogue announcements to stand would tell every local organ that party rules are negotiable. That would be the beginning of our undoing,” the petition stated.
The stakeholders urged the APC National Working Committee to launch a full investigation into the matter and impose appropriate sanctions on anyone found culpable.
