The All Progressives Congress (APC) on Monday concluded its senatorial primary elections across the three senatorial districts of Osun State, with prominent contenders emerging victorious after keenly contested polls.

In Osun Central Senatorial District, legal practitioner and politician, Barrister Kunle Rasheed Adegoke (SAN), popularly known as K-RAD, secured the party’s ticket after defeating incumbent Senator Olubiyi Fadeyi, popularly called Ajagunla.

Announcing the results, the electoral committee disclosed that Adegoke polled 26,655 votes to defeat Fadeyi, who garnered 13,138 votes.

Other aspirants in the race included Barrister Yomi Ogunwale, who scored 2,925 votes, Akintunde Adegboye with 342 votes, while Olu Fakeye polled 67 votes.

In Osun East Senatorial District, serving Senator Francis Fadahunsi emerged victorious to retain the party’s ticket for another shot at the Senate.

Fadahunsi secured 23,593 votes to defeat Mr. Famurewa Israel, who polled 472 votes, and Mr. Thomas Ogungbange, who scored 806 votes.

Meanwhile, in Osun West Senatorial District, businessman and politician, Dr. Akin Ogunbiyi, emerged winner of the APC senatorial primary.

Ogunbiyi recorded a landslide victory with 30,568 votes, defeating Gafar Akintayo, who polled 1,215 votes. Peter Ogundeji, who had earlier withdrawn from the contest, received 14 votes.

The primaries, which were conducted across the state on Monday, witnessed massive participation by party members and stakeholders ahead of the forthcoming general elections in Osun State.
