In a significant boost to regional connectivity and economic development, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the long-awaited reconstruction of the Ibadanโ€“Iwoโ€“Osogbo road corridor.

ย

This critical route linking major commercial and cultural hubs across Oyo and Osun States has, for years, suffered from neglect despite its strategic importance as a gateway to the South-West hinterland. When a state government ignores a gateway to their Countryhome just because it will serve other communities like Ejigbo and Iwo, that is intentional subsumption!

ย

For years, this critical corridor linking key commercial and cultural hubs across Oyo and Osun State has suffered prolonged neglect despite its strategic importance as a gateway to the hinterland. The road serves numerous communities, including Ejigbo, Iwo, Isundunrin, Ogbagba, Bode-Osi, Ilawo, Telemu, Ife-Odan, Igbon, Ara, Ika, Agboodo, Iwata, and many others whose economic and social activities depend heavily on its viability.

ย

When we asked them why the concentration of projects is only in Ede, despite the fact that common patrimonies of the entire 30 local government councils and one area office are concentrated in Ede, they gave us no answer. They have no other reply because other zones in Osun have been made alien in their common state. Their reply has always been, โ€œIs Ede not a part of Osun?

ย

Yes, Ede is part of Osun. But why must the rest of 26 local government areas be made aliens in their state? Why should development be skewed against them? Why should everything good and lofty be confined to Ede? Why must others be seen as slaves in their state? Imagined the plight of the Ido-Osun? What is the crime? An airport situated there has been taken away from them. Why? Because they didnโ€™t produce the governor but a common neighbour with his community, and they must be subsumed.

ย

The territorial agenda against Osogbo cannot be better explained than now! Ede will soon subsume Osogbo! Aregbesola, an Ijesaman, had all the power to blind Osogbo despite the apparent struggle for the state capital only by the Ifes and the Ijesas, yet he respected the capital and the constitution.

ย

Today, Osogbo cannot stand shoulder to shoulder with Ede. Why? Because a fief is in town! It is not new! During the short reign of the late Adetunji Isiaka Adeleke, Ede indigenes in higher institutions, just like the Hausas, were persuaded to reconsider leaving the higher institutions to take civil service employment in local government and state MDAs! They were smuggled into the system. Currently, those lads are now HLAs, directors and permanent secretaries across the strata of the state civil service.

ย

The journalists should visit the University of Ilesa today and counter this challenge of mine. Prof. Asaolu, an innocent VC, and Gbenga Onigbogi should be engaged to burst this opinion as a lie. Ede has the largest community in Unilesa today. They are commuting on a daily basis from the Ede community to and fro to Ilesa every day despite the pronounced embargo on employment. Imagine the economic sabotage and loss for the university community in Ilesa? More than 100 Ede indigenes are on the payroll of Unilesa, a university established by the common patrimony of the 30 local government councils and one area office!

ย

Ilesa was appeased by a sagbelojuyoyo Ereja/Brewery Road! Rain will soon be here, and by June the hypocrites will be put to shame! I was in Aba; I saw what Otti is doing in road construction. I was also in Ibadan; I saw the circular road from Apata to Ologuneru to Guru-Maraj to Idi-Ayinre into the hinterland to Egbeda, proposed to land in Ojoo! That is governance, not fiefdom! Not Ede FC, as we witnessed in Osun! It is only Osogbo indigenes without recourse to insight and foresight who will vote for a governor from Ede for the second term. Such a lad will unwittingly be helping to advance Edeโ€™s agenda to subsume Osogbo.

ย

The last time I saw a video online, where Ede people were gagging Osogbo to obviously agree that the state capital is in Abeere and that Osogbo should concede in defeat! Yes, I am not from Osogbo, but I have friends from Osogbo who are cerebral!

ย

Now is the time to put their knowledge to work. I am sure of one thing. Ijesa can rival Osogbo in the number of professors per household, but the same cannot be said of Osogbo diasporians relative to Ijesa. Where is your cosmopolitan posture, Olaju, if your town is subsumed by the agenda of a family from Ede? Believe this: there is no third term. If Osogbo people abet this self-serving administration to be reelected, in 5 years, Osogbo, though unfortunately constrained by landmass, will blame herself.

ย

The Ijesas have taken their cross. In Atakumosa nothing is there to see other than the mineral sleaze being perpetuated by the administration. The entire farmlands there are now derelict and clamouring for help from the huge degradation going on there, supervised by the state actors.

ย

Iperindo, Ileki and Odo are fast becoming history! Obokun and Oriade local government areas got 2.8 kilometres of road in the infra-project agenda of the Adeleke-led administration in the last 3 and a half years. I was made to understand that one borehole was dug and powered by a generator in each of the 22 wards of the 2 local councils. People are wicked! It is only a wicked Ijesa North person that will vote for this sitting administration.

ย

God forbid, if such an administration gets a second-term nod, it will sting them more than ever! I tried a visit to Iree from Ikirun. I lost 2 tyres and one shock absorber before I got to Kidvarc Academy in Iree, despite the fact that I was moving at a speed of 50 kilometres per hour! I lost the second absorber from Ori-Oke Baba Abiye to Iwo! This is when I got this news, and I realised Omo Olodo-Ide, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, must be thanked for this good job!

ย

Imagine again an administration that left the Gbongan-Akoda road as a single lane yet converted every township road in Ede to a dual lane. To achieve what? To spite others and tell them they were foolish to vote for them! Once I was in Ejigbo through the Gedu area to Bode-Osi to Iwo in August last year, I saw tractors being moved to the site. I was happy for the Abidjan entrepreneurs from Ejigbo. I was like, โ€˜These people get it right, and this was a vote-swindling strategy, and the consultant who sold this idea must be doing these people a great service!โ€™

ย

I was in the town this March! I took the road, a few patches, and the road is just like it was. But let us ask them, what is their crime? Is it because that place is not Ede, or why? Is the quality of jobs done in Ede replicated on that road? Why do we have to be this wicked?

ย

Soon, a Joseph will be on the throne! They advance the course of Ede as if they would never be in power in the next 50 years!

ย

Thank you, Asiwaju, for considering this road! Ejigbo, which other towns used to visit to buy foreign goods and provisions, has now become a shadow of its old self! Thank God, Najeem Salam is now on the ballot! Please, even if you will not vote for the APC or other party, vote for your son. If he did not win, you would be glad your ancestors would be proud you curtailed subsumption from neighbours; you never profited from her proximity.

ย

Olumirin Waterfall is lying idle and in a sorry state. The governor rushed to the site and took a picture of the image of the site at the airport when a tourist called the state governor out. What do we hear again about this wealth-spinning site suffering from a leadership deficit? Nothing, because it is not Ede!

ย

I learnt construction of an airport is going on in Ede despite the fact that it was not captured in the 2026 Osun appropriation bill. Somebody should tell Wale Egbedun that he would be asked why he chose to be a rubber stamp someday. August 15th is a date! The Osun people have got the very best opportunity to change this tide now. Osogbo people have got the perfect time to redress this hidden agenda against their aged history and land.

ย

Ejigbo people need no lens to see who are their true enemies! Once bitten, twice shy! Practically, Ikirun, Iree, Igbajo and a few other towns have got their shares of the draconian rule at the state level. The second term for such a people promises to be brutal. I appeal to Osogbo people, home and in the diaspora, to rise up and stop this silent battle of extermination against their ancient town before it consumes the city.

ย

Today, Ota, which is just a town outside Lagos State, is benefiting from the proximity. Ido-Osun and Ofatedo are not getting anything from their proximity to the state capital just because they spell out their traditional and geographical coordinates to be distinct from Ede.

ย

Thank you again for this Iwo-Osogbo road. History will vindicate all of us! It is not a marketplace agitation; Ademola Adeleke deserves only to govern Ede and not Osun State. Ibi ti e gbe amala de, ni ke jo de! Osun deserves a change! APC has provided an alternative, and AMBO is the flag bearer!

ย

The Ibadanโ€“Iwoโ€“Osogbo road project is therefore more than just a reconstruction effort; it is a symbol of inclusion, economic revival, and responsive governance. It has the potential to restore commercial activities, improve interstate transportation, and uplift communities whose growth has been hindered by years of neglect.

ย

As the project progresses, it is expected to significantly enhance trade routes, reduce travel time, and improve the overall quality of life for residents across the corridor.

ย

Ultimately, development must be seen, felt, and experienced across all regions. Governance works best when it is inclusive, equitable, and responsive to the needs of all citizens, not concentrated in a few areas.

ย

This project stands as a strong signal of commitment to that ideal. It reinforces the importance of aligning state development priorities with broader national efforts to ensure that no community is left behind.

ย

As this project takes shape, it is expected to restore economic vibrancy to affected towns, improve interstate mobility, and reaffirm the commitment of the federal government to inclusive national development.

ย

Osun must align with the APC-led administration at the centre come 15th August 2026.
