Makinde vows to strengthen security architecture in Oyo

Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has reiterated his administration’s commitment to strengthening security across the state to sustain economic growth and protect lives and property.

Makinde made this known at a dinner held in honour of members of Syndicate 5 of the Executive Intelligence Management Course 19 of the National Institute for Security Studies, at the Local Government Training School Hall, Secretariat, Agodi, Ibadan.

The governor, who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Musibau Babatunde, said collaboration among security agencies has been key to maintaining peace in the state.

“Effective collaboration and synergy among security agencies have been instrumental in sustaining peace and safeguarding the lives and property of the people in the state.

“The current administration in Oyo will continue to prioritise security and strengthen the security architecture to ensure that the ongoing economic development in the state is sustained,” he said.

Makinde commended the visiting team for choosing Oyo State for their study tour and praised their performance during the exercise.

Earlier, the Syndicate Supervisor, Julius Obukohwa, said the visit enhanced participants’ understanding of governance, security, and environmental safety, while also acknowledging the state government’s support for security agencies through the provision of equipment.

In separate goodwill messages, the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, represented by Oba Mobolaji Adewoyin; the Governor’s Executive Assistant on Security Coordination, Maj. Gen. Lukman Omoniyi (retd.); and the Chairman of Akinyele Local Government, Wole Akinleye, urged participants to apply the knowledge gained to improve the security sector.

Other dignitaries at the event included the Head of Service, Olubunmi Oni; Commissioner for Lands and Urban Development, Williams Akin-Funmilayo; Aseyin of Iseyin, Oba Sefiu Oyebola; Chairman of Ilaji Group, Dotun Sanusi, among others.
