NANS hails Abiodun, APC over Yayi’s endorsement

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has commended Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, and the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for endorsing Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, as the party’s candidate for the 2027 governorship election.

The endorsement followed a strategic APC caucus meeting held on Monday, where party leaders and stakeholders discussed succession plans ahead of the next election cycle.

In a statement issued by its National Public Relations Officer, Samson Adeyemi, NANS described the move as a “bold and strategic decision” that reflects a commitment to continuity, progressive governance, and youth inclusion.

“We consider this endorsement a bold and strategic decision that reflects the party’s commitment to continuity, progressive governance, and youth-inclusive leadership,” Adeyemi said.

The association noted that the development signals a positive step towards strengthening democratic values and ensuring purposeful leadership in Ogun State.

Commending the lawmaker, NANS said Adeola has demonstrated a track record in education, youth empowerment, and infrastructure development.

“His legislative contributions and empowerment initiatives have directly and indirectly impacted countless students and young people,” the statement added.

The student body also praised Governor Abiodun for what it described as purposeful leadership and for supporting a transition process anchored on “competence, credibility, and grassroots connection.”

“This level of political foresight is commendable and necessary for sustaining the developmental strides already recorded in the state,” it stated.

NANS expressed confidence in Adeola’s ability to deliver inclusive governance, noting that his endorsement aligns with the aspirations of young people in the state.

While pledging its support, the association urged the senator to maintain active engagement with students and youths, and called on political stakeholders to ensure a peaceful, transparent, and credible electoral process ahead of the 2027 elections.
