Oyintiloye, a former lawmaker, stated this while speaking with journalists on Sunday in Osogbo.
According to him, the ruling party must secure victories in both states to strengthen its position ahead of the nationwide elections scheduled for 2027.
“A landslide victory for the APC in the Ekiti governorship election slated for June 20 and the Osun governorship poll scheduled for August 15 would strengthen the party’s prospects in the next general election,” he said.
He noted that the two elections would serve as a litmus test for the party and could also consolidate the expected re-election bid of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027.
Oyintiloye described the Osun governorship contest as particularly significant, noting that the party is determined to unseat the incumbent governor, Ademola Adeleke.
He expressed confidence that the APC would emerge victorious, citing the collaboration and strategic efforts of party leaders in the state.
According to him, key figures including former Osun governor and APC leader Chief Bisi Akande, Minister of Marine and Blue Economy Adegboyega Oyetola, APC National Secretary Ajibola Basiru, and the state chairman Tajudeen Lawal are working towards the party’s success.
Oyintiloye also expressed confidence in the party’s governorship candidate in Osun, Bola Oyebamiji, describing him as capable and widely accepted by party members and residents.
He, however, appealed to aggrieved party members to put aside their grievances, respect party supremacy and work together to ensure victory for the APC in the forthcoming elections.
