Edo Residents Faulted for Electing Okpebholo over “Educated Choice” – Abati
Arise Television anchor and former presidential aide, Reuben Abati, has criticised Edo State residents over their choice of Governor Monday Okpebholo, following the governor’s struggle to correctly pronounce the acronym GCFR.
Speaking on Arise Television’s Morning Show on Wednesday, Abati argued that Edo people had the opportunity to elect a highly educated and competent leader but opted for Okpebholo instead.
He said: “Like the Yoruba would say, it is finished. Edo people had the chance to choose a highly educated and intelligent man. They did not want him. Instead, they chose Monday Okpebholo.”
Abati was reacting to the governor’s inability to pronounce the presidential suffix “GCFR” when referring to President Bola Tinubu, jokingly noting that Okpebholo rendered it as “DSS, GSM, GSSM.”
The former presidential aide added that Edo residents would now have to live with the consequences of their electoral choice.
