Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has acknowledged that the All Progressives Congress (APC) is not a party of saints but insisted it remains a better alternative to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Keyamo made this clarification on his verified X (formerly Twitter) handle on Saturday, responding to a resurfaced clip from an interview he granted a blog in 2017. The minister noted that some parts of the interview were recently edited and taken out of context.
Sharing the unedited video, Keyamo reiterated that no political party is without flaws. He wrote,
“This is the unedited part of the interview I granted a blog in 2017, emphasising that APC may not be a party of saints (which is a matter of fact), but it is still far better than where we were coming from. Some characters edited the last part of my statement out of it.”
He added, “And today, I repeat it, I will be a fool to say APC is a party of saints. Anyone who declares their party as a party of saints will also be a fool.”
The minister further argued that despite imperfections, the APC offers better prospects for Nigeria compared to the PDP, which previously governed the country.
“On balance, APC still holds the best hope for the country. We cannot return to the era of PDP, where some of the characters currently running for President today were prominent,” he said.
Keyamo also praised President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, stating that he was the only leader who did not join the troubled PDP ship at that time.
The minister’s comments have since generated reactions across social media, with both supporters and critics weighing in on his comparison of the two major parties ahead of the next electoral cycle.
