Ajagungbade Killing: Adeleke Orders Arrests, Moves to Reintroduce Park Management System

 

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has ordered the Commissioner of Police in the state to immediately arrest and investigate all persons allegedly involved in the killing of Mr. Ajagungbade Emir, amid reports that the incident was linked to a leadership tussle in one of the state’s motor parks.

The governor, in a statement issued by his spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, on Sunday, also directed security agencies to immediately restore normalcy in affected motor parks and prevent further breakdown of law and order.

Adeleke further ordered the immediate vacation of motor parks by warring groups, announcing plans to reintroduce the Park Management System as part of measures to restore order and discipline in parks and garages across the state.

According to the governor, he would soon issue an Executive Order to provide the legal framework for the implementation of the new park management arrangement.

The governor warned that his administration would not shield anyone found to have participated in the alleged killing, stressing that there would be “no sacred cows” in the investigation.

He directed the Commissioner of Police to act immediately and ensure that all those found culpable were brought to justice.

The governor said: “Law and order must be maintained. There will be no sacred cows as all culprits will be brought to book.”

Adeleke also appealed to residents, particularly those in communities affected by the incident, to remain calm, assuring them that security agencies had been directed to protect lives and property and restore peace.

“We will ensure restoration of peace in all the affected parks and areas. The security agencies are under instruction to ensure the sustainability of peace at all cost,” he said.

On the planned restructuring of motor parks, the governor stated: “We are reintroducing the Park Management System. I will soon issue an executive order to give effect to the new management system to manage parks and garages across the state.”

The development comes amid concerns over alleged disputes surrounding the control and leadership of motor parks in parts of the state.

The governor’s directive is expected to put security agencies on heightened alert across motor parks and garages as the state government moves to prevent further escalation of the situation.
