The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Daniel Nuhu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner of the Kwali Area Council chairmanship election.
INEC announced that Nuhu polled 17,032 votes, defeating Haruna Pai of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who scored 8,575 votes. The APC candidate secured victories across the majority of the council’s ten wards.
The results were officially declared by the INEC presiding officer at the final collation centre in Kwali on Sunday morning. The elections were conducted smoothly across all wards on Saturday.
With this win, APC has captured three of the four area councils in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) whose results have so far been released. Apart from Kwali, the party also won in Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) and Bwari, while PDP won in Gwagwalada.
The Kwali election result further cements APC’s dominant position in the FCT local government polls.
