Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi demands clarity on casualties, operational control
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has lambasted President Bola Ahmed Tinubu over the U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM) airstrikes in Sokoto State on December 25, 2025, describing the operation as a reflection of what it termed the President’s “historic incompetence.”
In a statement, the party spokesperson, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, welcomed lawful efforts to protect Nigerian lives but faulted the administration for allowing a foreign military to conduct direct operations on Nigerian soil. He warned that relying on external forces to fight terrorism is unsustainable and could compromise the country’s long-term strategic interests.
Mallam Abdullahi also questioned Nigeria’s actual involvement in the operation, insisting the country should not serve merely as an “informant” but should take a leading role. He demanded that the government provide details on operational control, the number of casualties, and the identities of those targeted.
Highlighting concerns over the framing of the war on terror, Mallam Abdullahi cautioned against confusing collaboration with “myopic surrender” and criticized the U.S. for portraying the fight in religious terms, warning that such narratives could threaten Nigeria’s national unity.
