An emotional atmosphere enveloped the venue as family members, friends, colleagues and sympathisers gathered to bid farewell to the 66-year-old actor.
A video from the funeral procession showed mourners carrying Ogogo’s remains to his final resting place.
Among those present was his close friend and colleague, Yinka Quadri, who was seen crying uncontrollably as mourners consoled him.
Other Nollywood actors, including Jide Kosoko, Faithia Balogun, Femi Adebayo, Mr Latin, Toyosi Adesanya, Ireti Osayemi and Bisi Omo Logbalogba, also attended the burial.
Actor Bola Oyin-Adejobi paid tribute to Ogogo and prayed for the deceased to attain Al-Jannah Firdaus.
The burial rites came a day after Ogogo’s remains were taken to Ilaro, his hometown, following his death on Sunday.
Ogogo died at 3 p.m. on Sunday at the age of 66, according to an announcement by veteran actor Jide Kosoko on Instagram.
His death came days after his daughters, Kaira and Lima Taiwo, appealed for medical assistance for their father, who had been battling stage-four cancer.
Kaira had disclosed that doctors could no longer administer chemotherapy due to his condition, prompting the family to explore other treatment options.
Ogogo was a prominent figure in the Nigerian film industry, particularly in Yoruba-language cinema. His career spanned more than four decades, during which he featured in hundreds of films and became one of the most recognisable actors in the industry.
