A letter purportedly authored by Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke and addressed to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in his Ward 2, Sagba-Abogunde, Ede North Local Government, has surfaced, indicating that the governor allegedly withdrew his membership from the party as far back as November 4, 2025.
The document, which is yet to be officially confirmed by the PDP at the ward, local or state level, conveys the governor’s supposed decision to quit the party over what he reportedly described as “the current crisis within the national leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party.”
According to the content of the circulating letter, Adeleke purportedly stated:
“Due to the current crisis within the national leadership of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), I hereby resign my membership of the PDP with immediate effect.”
The letter also allegedly expressed appreciation to the party for providing him platforms that led to his emergence as Senator representing Osun West and later as Governor of Osun State.
The document bears the signature of the governor and appears to have been transmitted through his spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, though the Governor’s Office has not issued any formal statement confirming or denying the development.
As of press time, neither the Osun State chapter of the PDP nor the national leadership had responded to inquiries regarding the authenticity of the letter.
If validated, the move would deepen the ongoing political uncertainties surrounding the governor’s future platform ahead of the 2026 governorship election, where internal party divisions and speculations over his next political alignment have continued to dominate the state’s political discourse.
