Families in Distress as Ransom Calls Begin
A community leader, the Olori Eta of Eruku, Chief Olusegun Olukotun, said four members of his family were among the captives.
He recounted that one of his wards escaped through a church window at about 6:06 p.m. during the raid.
He confirmed that abductors have begun contacting families.
> “They have grouped the victims according to their relations and are calling our people one group after another,” he said. “They are demanding N100 million per person. For my family members, I have not been contacted yet.”
Panic on Ilorin–Kabba Road
The attack, which began inside the church and spilled onto the busy Ilorin–Kabba Road, forced travellers to abandon their vehicles and flee into nearby bushes.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Adekimi Ojo, has ordered the deployment of additional security personnel to the area, but residents say fear still grips the community.
The incident occurred less than 24 hours after 25 schoolgirls were kidnapped in Kebbi State, adding to the growing concerns over insecurity across the country.
