FRSC Launches Probe After Edo Driver-Officer Clash Goes Viral

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has ordered an immediate investigation into a confrontation between some of its officers and a driver in Edo State, following a video of the incident that went viral on social media on Saturday, October 25.

The footage, circulating widely online, shows a heated exchange between uniformed officers and a motorist along Abudu, Edo State, raising concerns about professional conduct among FRSC personnel.

In a statement issued on Sunday, Olusegun Ogungbemide, Assistant Corps Marshal and Corps Public Education Officer, said the Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, had expressed concern over the video and reiterated the agency’s zero tolerance for unprofessional behaviour.

“The Corps does not condone any act that undermines the integrity and discipline for which the FRSC is known. An immediate investigation has been ordered to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident, and any officer found culpable will face disciplinary action in line with operational guidelines and public service rules,” the statement read.

The Corps Marshal also appealed to motorists and members of the public to remain calm and continue cooperating with FRSC officers committed to road safety. While emphasising professionalism among its personnel, Mohammed warned against any form of assault on FRSC officers in the line of duty, stressing that such acts will not be tolerated.

He reaffirmed the Corps’ commitment to upholding ethical standards, maintaining discipline, and strengthening public trust in its operations across the country.
