Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor, Olayemi Cardoso, will now lead Nigeria’s delegation to the annual World Bank and International Monetary Fund (IMF) meetings in Washington, D.C., following the illness of Wale Edun, the minister of finance and coordinating minister of the economy.
Bayo Onanuga, special adviser to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on information and strategy, confirmed Edun’s indisposition in a statement on Sunday.
“The finance minister is unwell and unable to make the trip. Mr. Cardoso will head Nigeria’s delegation to the World Bank/IMF meetings,” Onanuga stated.
The high-level meetings are expected to focus on global economic growth, inflation, and debt sustainability among developing nations.
