The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has urged Governor Ademola Adeleke to prove his commitment to justice by handing over the state Amotekun Corps Commander, Mr. Isaac Adekunle Omoyele, to the police for investigation.
In a statement released on Sunday, Mogaji Kola Olabisi, the APC’s Director of Media and Information, described reports that Omoyele has been hiding in the Government House to evade arrest as “condemnable, irresponsible and unpatriotic.” He added that Governor Adeleke must act swiftly to avoid tarnishing both his personal and government image.
The APC said that while the governor had commended the police for their handling of the recent Akinlalu killings allegedly carried out by Amotekun operatives, mere words were not enough. “As a self-proclaimed patriot and believer in the rule of law, Governor Adeleke should, without further delay, hand over the state commander of Amotekun to the police for a thorough investigation,” the statement said.
The party also warned that harboring a suspected criminal in the Government House would set a dangerous precedent for justice and decency, calling it a national embarrassment.
