Gunmen Attack Osun Amotekun Commander; Omoyele Escapes Death

The Commander of the Osun Amotekun Corps, Isaac Omoyele, narrowly escaped death on Monday night when armed assailants ambushed his vehicle along Ikirun Road, Osogbo.

The attack occurred around 10:05 p.m., shortly after Omoyele left the Amotekun Corps Headquarters for his home. Eyewitnesses said the gunmen opened fire on his car, leaving the commander with gunshot injuries.

Spokesperson for the corps, Yusuf Idowu Abass, confirmed that Omoyele is receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital and is reported to be in stable condition under tight security.

“The case has been formally reported to the Ota-Efun Police Division, and investigations are ongoing. No group has claimed responsibility, and the motive remains unclear,” Abass stated.

The incident has raised security concerns in Osun, with residents calling for heightened vigilance along major routes in the state.
