Endure Reform Pains, Akpabio Urges Nigerians on 65th Independence Anniversary
Senate President Godswill Akpabio has called on Nigerians to remain patient and endure the temporary hardships of President Bola Tinubu’s economic reforms, saying the measures are crucial for the nation’s long-term growth.
In a congratulatory message marking Nigeria’s 65th independence anniversary, Akpabio commended citizens for their resilience over the past two years.
“My dear resilient and wonderful people of this great nation, I heartily congratulate you on witnessing Nigeria’s 65th independence celebration,” he said. “At 65, we are matured and should be working for the unity of the nation and prosperity of our people. We salute your patience and endurance. Your support and understanding are deeply appreciated.”
Akpabio acknowledged the difficulties Nigerians face due to the ongoing reforms but assured that the pain would be temporary. “Very soon, these challenges will be a thing of the past because the benefits of the reforms are beginning to manifest positively,” he stated.
He also lauded President Tinubu for his dedication to peace and national development, as well as the National Assembly, the judiciary, and Nigerians at home and abroad for their steadfastness.
“Nigeria is not finished. Do not buy into the mischievous narrative that the country is irredeemable. We are on the right path, and the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Tinubu’s administration is reshaping our nation. We are growing and making progress,” Akpabio added.
He urged all Nigerians to support the reforms to ensure the country reaches its “promised land.”
“On behalf of my family, constituents, the 10th Senate, and the National Assembly, I congratulate you and wish you a peaceful and joyous independence celebration,” he concluded.
