Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has been formally confirmed as a member of the Accord Party, the state chapter has said, as it warned against spreading false information about the party.
Pastor Victor Akande, Osun State Chairman of Accord, on Friday cautioned expelled members of the party—accused of colluding with political operatives from rival parties—to stop creating disturbances that threaten party unity.
Clarifying the governor’s membership, Pastor Akande said Adeleke officially joined Accord on November 6, 2025, and received public recognition from the party on December 9, 2025. He added that the governor emerged the valid winner of the Accord Party primary held on December 10, 2025, conducted under strict guidelines approved by the National Executive Committee (NEC) and monitored by officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Pastor Akande also addressed circulating rumours that the National Chairman of Accord, Mr. Maxwell Mgbudem, had been suspended, describing them as “absolutely and totally false.” He urged political opponents to focus on the achievements of their candidates rather than spreading misinformation on social media.
“Elections are not won on social media platforms. Those serious about competing should demonstrate what they have achieved. Osun State is Accord, and Accord is Osun State,” the chairman said.
Supporting this position, Hon. Oke Rotimi Michael, Spokesperson for the Forum of State Chairmen of Accord South West and State Chairman of Accord Ogun, reiterated that no disciplinary action had been taken against the National Chairman. He noted that a NEC meeting on December 3, 2025, passed a vote of confidence on Mr. Mgbudem and the entire National Working Committee.
“Accord remains a law-abiding and constitutionally-guided party. No baseless allegations can create chaos among us,” Hon. Oke added, condemning the circulation of misleading information by disruptive elements.
