PSC Urges Newly Promoted Officers to Uphold Discipline, Integrity

The Chairman of the Police Service Commission (PSC), DIG Hashimu Argungu (retd), has urged newly promoted officers in the Nigeria Police Force to embrace their new roles with discipline, responsibility, and sacrifice.

Speaking at a special commendation ceremony and grand reception organised by the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) in honour of the promoted officers on Thursday, September 25, 2025, Argungu said promotions should be seen not as an end, but as a beginning.

“The challenges before the Nigeria Police today are enormous,” he noted. “From combating violent crimes, insurgency, and cybercrime to managing the complex demands of democratic policing, the nation looks up to you to demonstrate leadership, integrity, and professionalism at all times.”

Represented at the event by Mr. Ikechukwu Ani, PSC Head of Press and Public Relations, the chairman emphasised that the PSC remains committed to merit-driven and transparent promotions anchored on due process. “This approach inspires confidence, boosts morale, and repositions the Nigeria Police for optimal performance,” he added.

Argungu also praised the PCRC for its continuous support to both the Commission and the Police Force, stressing that “security is a shared responsibility” and underscoring the need to build trust and collaboration between police officers and the communities they serve.

He concluded by reminding the officers that “to whom much is given, much is expected. Wear your new ranks with humility, execute your duties with renewed vigour, and remain worthy ambassadors of the Nigeria Police Force.”
