Oluwo Hails Ladoja’s Ascension, Predicts Monumental Impact on Ibadan

The Paramount Ruler of Iwoland, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Abdulrosheed Adewale Akanbi, has congratulated Olubadan-Designate, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, describing him as a transformative figure poised to leave a lasting mark on Ibadan’s traditional institution.

Oba Akanbi, whose mother was an Ibadan princess, emphasized his maternal connection to the city and the enduring cordial ties between Iwo and Ibadan. He expressed optimism that Oba Ladoja’s ascension would further strengthen cooperation between the two historic cities.

According to a statement released through his press secretary, Alli Ibraheem, the Oluwo said: “I congratulate the good people of Ibadan, especially the Olubadan-Designate, Oba Rashidi Ladoja. His agility and wealth of experience as a former Governor of Oyo State will distinguish him. He will be the first former Governor to ascend the Olubadan stool, and I am confident he will make a monumental contribution to its history.”

He added: “My maternal affinity with Ibadan and the longstanding collaboration between our cities remain strong and unbroken. This bond explains why many Iwoland warriors were historically accommodated in Ibadan. The connection is ageless and inseparable.”

Oba Akanbi also commended Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, for his support of traditional institutions, while urging Ibadan sons and daughters to rally behind Oba Ladoja in guiding the city to greater heights.
