Oyo Journalists Call for Swift Justice Following Colleague’s Killing
Journalists in Oyo State have urged the police to apprehend and prosecute the perpetrators behind the murder of their colleague, Ojo Peter.
The call was made by the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Oyo State council, in a statement signed by acting Chairman, Olusola Oladapo.
Peter, a former reporter with Parrot Extra and Daily Monitor, was shot during a daylight robbery along the Molete-Oke Ado axis of Ibadan on 18 August 2025. His killing has sparked concern among members of the media community in the state.
Oladapo demanded a thorough investigation, stating that Peter was robbed of his cross bag and shot despite assurances that it contained no money. The union called on the police to “fish out the killers of the deceased journalist” and ensure justice is served.
