2027: ADC faction inaugurates North-West campaign council, names Chindo chairman

A faction of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), led by its factional National Chairman, Nafiu Gombe, has inaugurated a North-West Campaign Council as part of efforts to strengthen its political structures and coordinate mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The inauguration followed a meeting of the party’s North-West Zonal Caucus with governorship, senatorial, House of Representatives and State House of Assembly candidates, alongside other stakeholders, in Sokoto State on Friday.

In a statement issued on Saturday by the Director of Media and Publicity and Spokesperson of the 2027 ADC Presidential Campaign Council, Dr Christopher Okechukwu, Alhaji Nuradeen Lawal Chindo was named chairman of the council, while Dr Bello Shehu was appointed secretary.

The meeting, held at Giginya Hotel, Sokoto, was convened to harmonise the positions of party stakeholders and develop a coordinated political strategy ahead of the elections.

Okechukwu said the engagement was designed to provide a sustainable political roadmap towards the party’s participation in the 2027 general elections.

He said, “The high-level engagement is convened to deliberate, harmonise positions and chart a coherent, viable and sustainable political roadmap towards securing a decisive and resounding victory for the ADC in preparation for the 2027 general elections.”

According to him, the newly inaugurated North-West Campaign Council will oversee campaign activities across the seven states in the geopolitical zone.

The inauguration was presided over by the Deputy Director-General (North) of the ADC Presidential Campaign Council, Hon. Bala Sani Kumo.

The Director of Legal and Litigation of the campaign council, Chief Cletus Okoye, SAN, administered the oath of office to the newly appointed members.

Speaking at the event, Kumo charged members of the council to ensure an inclusive campaign structure that accommodates youths, women and persons with disabilities.

He urged the leadership to integrate the three groups into the party’s campaign activities and political engagements across the North-West.

The party reiterated its commitment to an issue-based and people-oriented campaign, with emphasis on good governance, peace and sustainable development.
