The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC), in an update on the disease situation, said contact identification and listing were ongoing, while samples collected from the suspected cases were undergoing laboratory testing.
The agency clarified that the classification of the individuals as suspected cases does not mean they have tested positive for Ebola. It stressed that confirmation would depend on the outcome of laboratory tests.
Meanwhile, the public has been advised to maintain proper hand hygiene, observe enhanced sanitation practices and comply with preventive measures issued by public health authorities.
The NCDC said further updates would be provided as verified information becomes available.
