Nasarawa Police Raid Chekwe, Kwara Forests to Flush Out Suspected Criminals

The Nasarawa State Police Command has intensified security operations in Keana Local Government Area, carrying out clearance exercises in Chekwe and Kwara forests to dislodge suspected criminals and dismantle their hideouts.

The operation, conducted on Wednesday, October 28, involved Police Mobile Force personnel, conventional police officers and tactical teams deployed across the area.

In a statement, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Ramhan Nansel, said the operation began in Kadarko and proceeded through Angwan Alaku, where the operatives crossed a river before advancing into Chekwe Forest.

The team subsequently moved through Ansa Village and Angwan Yara to Kwara Forest, combing the forest and surrounding areas in search of suspected criminal hideouts.

According to the police, the exercise was aimed at denying criminal elements safe havens, restricting their movement and preventing activities that could threaten residents’ safety.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed, said the command was taking the fight against crime directly to locations suspected of serving as hideouts for criminal groups.

“The Command will not wait for criminals to threaten the peace and safety of citizens before taking action,” Mohammed said.

He added that the police would sustain proactive, intelligence-led operations to identify and tackle security threats in accordance with the law.

The commissioner urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious movements or activities to the nearest police station or through established police communication channels.

He assured the public that information supplied to the police would be treated with utmost confidentiality.
