Voting began in early October, giving football fans the opportunity to select their Ballon d’Or winner of all time from a shortlist of 10 football legends who have won the award at least twice.
Other players on the list include Argentina captain Lionel Messi, French legend Michel Platini, England’s Kevin Keegan, Brazilian striker Ronaldo Nazário, Dutch forward Marco van Basten and Netherlands great Johan Cruyff.
Announcing the development on its social media platforms, the Ballon d’Or organisers confirmed Ronaldo’s lead in the ongoing poll.
“Cristiano Ronaldo is leading,” the post read.
The organisers urged fans to continue voting, with participants standing a chance to win two tickets to the 2027 Ballon d’Or ceremony.
“Choose your BALLON D’OR OF ALL TIME among the players who have won the award multiple times,” the statement added.
The poll offers fans an opportunity to weigh in on the debate over the greatest players in the history of the award.
