The approval was conveyed in a memo dated October 19, 2026, issued by the Office of the Head of Service, Kwara State Government and signed by the Press Secretary, Office of the Head of Service, Okanlawon Solomon.
According to the memo, the approval followed the governor’s earlier directive for the Office of the Head of Service to constitute a committee to review the salaries and allowances of medical officers and allied health workers employed by the state government.
The committee has completed its assignment and submitted a report containing recommendations aimed at improving the welfare, remuneration and working conditions of healthcare professionals.
Among the recommendations was the implementation of an enhanced entry point for qualified graduate nurses and medical laboratory scientists in line with the relevant Federal Government circular.
The committee also recommended that the deployment and posting details of nurses and allied health workers be forwarded to the Office of the Head of Service to facilitate the processing of rural allowances for eligible personnel serving in rural communities.
Another key recommendation was an upward review of professional allowances for nurses and other health workers in line with the proposed allowance scales.
Following consideration of the report, the Office of the Head of Service submitted its recommendations, which were approved by the governor.
Under the approved measures, medical laboratory scientists currently on Grade Level 09 will advance to Grade Level 10, effective from the dates of their respective appointments, to maintain seniority in the service.
The governor also approved the implementation of the proposed Professional Allowance Table for nurses and allied health workers employed by the state government.
The Chairman of the Kwara State Civil Service Commission has been directed to implement the approved advancement of medical laboratory scientists, while the Commissioner for Finance is to make the necessary arrangements for the implementation of the approved measures.
The state government said the approvals reaffirm the administration’s commitment to improving healthcare workers’ welfare, retaining skilled professionals and strengthening healthcare delivery across Kwara State.
