Osun Sports Council Redeploys Sports Secretaries, Assigns New Portfolios

The Osun State Sports Council has redeployed sports secretaries across various sporting disciplines to improve administrative efficiency and strengthen sports development in the state.

The Council’s Public Relations Officer, Mrs. Olanike Aregbesola, disclosed this in a statement issued in Osogbo on Monday, following a management meeting presided over by the General Manager, Mr. Ademola Daini, at the Osogbo Township Stadium.

Daini said the exercise was aimed at improving service delivery, promoting flexibility and ensuring effective coordination of sporting activities across the state.

“Sports organisation requires flexibility and the willingness to take on new responsibilities. Sports secretaries and organisers are administrators, and their assignments are subject to periodic changes in the interest of effective administration and development,” he said.

Under the new arrangement, Bolaji Amiola will oversee basketball, athletics, para-athletics and gymnastics, while Nicholas Famoyin will handle football, para-soccer and beach soccer.

Sunday Ilori was assigned swimming and para-swimming, while Yemisi Daini will oversee hockey, powerlifting, taekwondo and boxing.

Other assignments include Wasiu Seriki for volleyball, chess and sitting volleyball; Abayomi Amoo for rugby, mixed martial arts, kickboxing and scrabble; and Abraham Oyeniyi for netball, weightlifting, karate and darts.

Emmanuel Adebisi will handle tennis, wheelchair tennis and cycling, while Rofiyat Waheed will oversee handball, wrestling and badminton. Remi Bamgbopa was assigned table tennis and para-table tennis.

Ifeoluwa Adijat Buari will coordinate abula and ayo olopon, while Wuraola Oyesode will handle e-sports, judo and canoeing.

The Council said the new assignments took immediate effect and were expected to improve collaboration between sports organisers and coaches, strengthen competition management and promote talent development across Osun State.

Daini urged the redeployed officers to demonstrate professionalism, dedication and teamwork in their new roles.
