Adeleke, Davido Face Backlash Over Governor’s Support for Tinubu Ahead of 2027
Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, and his nephew, Afrobeats singer David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, have come under criticism on social media following the governor’s declaration of support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.
The backlash followed reports that Adeleke had pledged to deliver Osun State for Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election and had been appointed coordinator of the City Boy Movement in the state as part of his inclusion in the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council.
The development has sparked reactions from Nigerians, with some questioning the governor’s political alignment, particularly in light of his previous opposition to the APC during the Osun governorship election.
Davido has also been drawn into the controversy, as old posts in which he criticised the APC have resurfaced on X.
In one widely circulated post, the singer wrote, “Anybody supporting APC in Osun is an enemy of progress.”
Some social media users have accused the Adeleke family of political inconsistency, arguing that their opposition to the APC in Osun State appears to conflict with the governor’s support for the party at the federal level.
