Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has congratulated the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy and former governor of the state, Gboyega Oyetola, on the occasion of his 72nd birthday.

In a statement signed by his spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, and made available in Osogbo on Tuesday, Adeleke described birthdays as an opportunity to reflect on the past and present while looking ahead to the future.

The governor commended Oyetola for his contributions to the development of Osun State and Nigeria, while calling on political leaders in the state to use the occasion to promote peace, unity and cooperation.

Adeleke, who returned to the country on Monday night after a short vacation in the United Kingdom, said politics should serve as a tool for uniting the people rather than creating divisions.

He noted that the birthday celebration provided an opportunity for leaders across political divides to strengthen relationships and work together for the development of Osun State.

According to him, the state needs all its leaders to contribute to the delivery of democratic dividends and the advancement of good governance.

“My beautiful gift for the minister on his birthday is a dove of peace and unity. I felicitate with the leader of APC in Osun State. I rejoice with a minister who is turning around the national blue economy sector.

“Our state needs him and other leaders to continue to accelerate delivery of democratic dividends and widen the net of good governance,” Adeleke said.

The governor also urged Osun leaders to embrace partnership, collaboration and brotherhood, citing the need to build bridges of understanding and promote peaceful coexistence.

“In line with the admonition of our dear President, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Osun leaders are encouraged to build bridges of partnership, collaboration and brotherhood using the birthday of our brother, the former governor, as a pathway to peace, unity and progress for our dear state,” he said.

Adeleke joined Oyetola’s family, friends and associates in wishing him a prosperous birthday and many more years of good health and service.
