Kwara CP Begins Unannounced Inspection Of Police Formations

The Kwara State Commissioner of Police, Ojo Adekimi, has commenced unannounced inspections of police divisions and formations across the state to assess officers’ operational readiness, discipline and working conditions.

 

The exercise began on Wednesday with visits to the Area Command, Metro, Ilorin, and 12 divisional headquarters within the Ilorin metropolis.

 

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, disclosed this in a statement issued on Thursday.

 

Adekimi said the inspection would enable him to assess officers’ professional commitment, identify operational challenges and obtain first-hand information on the conditions confronting personnel.

 

During the visits, the commissioner interacted with officers, reviewed security arrangements and assessed their preparedness for duty.

 

He directed personnel to strengthen vigilance and security around police facilities, stressing that station guards must remain alert as the first line of defence.

 

“Our approach to policing must be proactive and intelligence-driven. Every officer must remain professionally committed, disciplined, vigilant and responsive to the security needs of the communities we serve,” Adekimi said.

 

The CP also warned against misconduct, corruption, extortion and other unethical practices, saying officers found culpable would face disciplinary and legal action.

 

He said the inspection would continue across police divisions, formations and other operational locations without prior notice.

 

“The unannounced nature of this exercise is deliberate. It will enable us to objectively assess operational readiness, discipline, personnel conduct and compliance with established standards,” he said.

 

Adekimi directed officers to remain at their duty posts and maintain constant operational readiness, assuring residents that the command would continue to pursue proactive policing and effective crime prevention across the state.
