Osun election: PDP warns Tinubu after Adeleke’s victory
The Peoples Democratic Party has warned President Bola Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress following Governor Ademola Adeleke’s victory in the Osun State governorship election.
The party described Adeleke’s victory as a message ahead of the 2027 general elections, accusing the APC of deploying what it called its “rigging machinery” in an attempt to take control of the state.
The PDP stated this in a statement issued on Sunday, August 16, 2026, and signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Ini Ememobong.
“The result of the Osun Governorship elections, as announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission, showing a convincing win by Governor Ademola Adeleke, is a clear message from Nigerians in Osun State about what the 2027 elections will be,” the party said.
The opposition party alleged that its members and other opposition politicians were subjected to intimidation, assault and arrests during the election period.
It also accused security agencies of failing to maintain neutrality during the poll.
The PDP further raised concerns over the freezing of the state government’s accounts by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission and alleged delays in the uploading of election results by the Independent National Electoral Commission.
The party urged Nigerians to remain vigilant and protect their votes ahead of the 2027 general elections.
“Election results must be reflective of the wishes of the people freely expressed through the ballot and not the enforcement of the whims and caprices of a privileged minority of oppressors,” the PDP said.
