Osun Guber: Accord endorses Oyebamiji, withdraws support for Adeleke

The National Chairman of the Accord Party, Professor Christopher Imumolen, has announced the withdrawal of the party’s support for Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, ahead of Saturday’s governorship election.

Imumolen made the declaration on Thursday at the All Progressives Congress mega rally in Osogbo, where he announced the party’s decision to support the APC governorship candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, popularly known as AMBO.

“As Chairman of the Accord and with all our National Working Committee members here present, we withdraw our support for Governor Ademola Adeleke and support AMBO,” Imumolen said.

He urged Accord members and supporters across the state to vote for Oyebamiji and the APC during Saturday’s election.

“All our members are enjoined to vote for AMBO and the APC in Saturday’s election,” he added.

The endorsement comes amid an internal crisis within the Accord Party, which led to the suspension of its mega rally scheduled for Wednesday, August 12.

Imumolen said the decision to support Oyebamiji followed the party’s inability to mobilise its members for the planned rally.

Speaking at the APC rally, Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum, Senator Hope Uzodinma, expressed confidence in the party’s chances of winning the election and urged Osun residents to support Oyebamiji.

“Vote AMBO, vote prosperity, vote Osun for the state to be prosperous. We the 31 state governors are in the state in solidarity and to welcome the state to the fold of the progressives,” Uzodinma said.

Oyebamiji pledged to run a people-oriented administration focused on good governance and improving the welfare of residents if elected.

“Our government that will be elected on August 15, 2026, will be a government of the people, and we will stand on your mandate. No dance anymore, but strict governance. I have the mandate to touch the lives of the people of Osun,” he said.

The APC leader in Osun State and Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, also urged voters to support Oyebamiji, describing him as a tested and trusted candidate.

“Let’s support Oyebamiji. His track record is there compared to how other candidates have fared,” Oyetola said.
