Afrobeats singer David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has warned President Bola Tinubu that he would seek the intervention of United States President Donald Trump if anything goes wrong during the August 15 Osun State governorship election.

Davido made the statement during a live session with comedian Carter Efe, as he stressed the need for a free, fair and credible election in the state.

The singer said he would not remain silent if the electoral process was compromised, adding that he was prepared to draw international attention to any alleged irregularities.

“I will involve Trump if anything goes wrong in the Osun election,” Davido said.

The warning comes ahead of the August 15 governorship poll, in which Governor Ademola Adeleke, Davido’s uncle, is seeking re-election on the platform of the Accord Party.

Davido has been actively involved in the governor’s campaign and has repeatedly called on political actors, security agencies and voters to ensure that the election is conducted peacefully and that the will of the electorate is respected.

His latest comment adds to the growing political tension surrounding the election, which has witnessed allegations and counter-allegations among the major political parties and stakeholders.
