INEC begins PVC distribution ahead of Osun governorship election

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has commenced the distribution of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) in Osun State ahead of the 2026 governorship election.

In a statement issued on Monday, the Resident Electoral Commissioner in the state, Oluwatoyin Babalola, said the exercise is for eligible voters who registered, transferred their registration, applied for replacement of lost or damaged PVCs, or updated their records during the recently concluded Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise.

According to the commission, PVC collection will begin at the 332 Registration Areas across the state from July 22 to July 28, 2026, before moving to all Local Government Area offices from July 29 to August 7, 2026.

The exercise will be conducted daily, including weekends, between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.

Babalola urged eligible voters to collect their PVCs within the stipulated period, noting that the card remains the only valid means of accreditation for voting.

She added that previously uncollected PVCs from earlier registration exercises would also be available for collection.

The REC stressed that PVC collection must be done in person, warning that collection by proxy would not be allowed.

She reaffirmed INEC’s commitment to conducting a free, fair, credible and transparent governorship election in Osun State.
