Shettima, who is representing President Bola Tinubu at the summit, was received on arrival at the Sierra Leone International Airport by the country’s Vice President, Dr Mohamed Jalloh.
Also on hand to welcome the Vice President were Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu; Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Sola Enikanolaiye; Nigeria’s High Commissioner to Sierra Leone, Ambassador Ayo Luther-Ogbomode; Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas), Ekperikpe Ekpo; and Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to ECOWAS, Ambassador Olawale Awe, among other officials.
The summit brings together heads of state, senior government officials, diplomats and development partners from across West Africa to deliberate on key regional issues.
Discussions are expected to focus on peace and security, democratic governance, economic integration, trade, infrastructure and sustainable development across the sub-region.
Nigeria’s participation at the summit underscores its commitment to strengthening regional cooperation and advancing the objectives of ECOWAS in promoting stability and economic growth across West Africa.
