Troops of the 26 Task Force Brigade Garrison under Operation HADIN KAI have uncovered and safely disposed of an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) planted by suspected terrorists in a farming area of the Sambisa Forest, Borno State.

Security analyst Zagazola Makama disclosed the development in a post on X, stating that the device was discovered at about 9:50 a.m. on July 15 during a fighting patrol in the Dagari area of Bama Local Government Area.

According to Makama, the explosive device was buried by suspected terrorists, apparently to target troops and civilians, including farmers returning to their farmlands.

He said the troops immediately secured the area and safely detonated the IED in situ in line with standard explosive ordnance disposal procedures, eliminating the threat without casualties.

“The operation forms part of ongoing clearance and Counter-Improvised Explosive Device (C-IED) efforts under Operation HADIN KAI to make liberated communities and farming areas safe for civilian activities,” he said.

Makama added that troops have continued aggressive patrols and route clearance operations across the North-East to detect and neutralise explosive devices planted by terrorists.
