Police Launch Investigation Into Murder Of Kwara Farmer
The Kwara State Police Command has commenced an investigation into the killing of a farmer, Abdulazeez Abubakar Abiodun, popularly known as Azeez Garba, whose body was discovered on his cocoa farm in Isin Local Government Area.
Police say preliminary investigations revealed that the deceased was attacked by unknown assailants and sustained deep machete wounds.
According to the family, Garba left home for his farm on July 11 but failed to return, prompting a search before local hunters discovered his body in a nearby bush.
Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, said Commissioner of Police Ojo Adekimi has directed the State Criminal Investigation Department to deploy all available investigative and intelligence resources to identify and arrest those responsible.
The police described the killing as cruel, senseless and unacceptable, assuring the bereaved family and residents of Isin Local Government Area that every available lead is being pursued.
The command added that no arrest has been made, but investigations are ongoing.
