FG Fixes December 2028 For Final Analogue TV Switch-Off

The Federal Government has set December 2028 as the deadline for Nigeria’s complete transition from analogue to digital television broadcasting..

He said the transition would be implemented in stages, with future phases covering pay television services, studio development and designated production centres for content creators.

Ebuebu added that audience measurement is already underway, with pilot projects completed in Lagos and implementation now beginning in Abuja.

According to him, the analogue switch-off will free up valuable broadcast spectrum, estimated to be worth more than 50 billion dollars, for use by sectors such as telecommunications, financial services and digital applications.

The NBC also said it is developing a policy on obsolete broadcasting equipment to ensure reusable assets are repurposed while unusable ones are safely disposed of in line with international best practices.
