Speaking during an interview on TVC News, monitored by Patriotic Insights News, the ADC standard bearer urged all stakeholders in the electoral process to shun violence and strictly adhere to the rules guiding political campaigns and the forthcoming election.
He stressed the need for politicians to place the interest of the people above personal ambition, urging contestants to promote issue-based campaigns and uphold democratic principles before, during and after the poll.
According to him, no political ambition is worth the blood or lives of innocent people, adding that political actors must demonstrate maturity, tolerance and respect for the democratic process.
The ADC flag bearer also called on traditional rulers across Osun State to play a more active role in promoting peace by counselling political actors and prevailing on those fomenting trouble to desist from acts capable of disrupting public order.
He said the responsibility of ensuring a peaceful electoral process should not be left to security agencies alone, noting that traditional institutions and community leaders have critical roles to play in protecting lives and property.
The ADC candidate reaffirmed his commitment to a peaceful, free, fair and credible governorship election, expressing confidence that the people of Osun State would freely elect their preferred candidate in an atmosphere devoid of intimidation, harassment and violence.
