Osun 2026: ADC Governorship Candidate Calls for Peaceful Poll, Warns Against Election Violence
The governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) for the August 15 governorship election in Osun State has appealed to political parties, candidates and their supporters to conduct themselves peacefully, declaring that no political office is worth the blood of any citizen.
Speaking during an interview on TVC News, monitored by Patriotic Insights News, the ADC standard bearer urged all stakeholders in the electoral process to shun violence and strictly adhere to the rules guiding political campaigns and the forthcoming election.
He stressed the need for politicians to place the interest of the people above personal ambition, urging contestants to promote issue-based campaigns and uphold democratic principles before, during and after the poll.
According to him, no political ambition is worth the blood or lives of innocent people, adding that political actors must demonstrate maturity, tolerance and respect for the democratic process.
The ADC flag bearer also called on traditional rulers across Osun State to play a more active role in promoting peace by counselling political actors and prevailing on those fomenting trouble to desist from acts capable of disrupting public order.
He said the responsibility of ensuring a peaceful electoral process should not be left to security agencies alone, noting that traditional institutions and community leaders have critical roles to play in protecting lives and property.
The ADC candidate reaffirmed his commitment to a peaceful, free, fair and credible governorship election, expressing confidence that the people of Osun State would freely elect their preferred candidate in an atmosphere devoid of intimidation, harassment and violence.
The Osun State governorship election is scheduled for August 15, with political parties intensifying campaigns across the state.
