The Federal Government has concluded arrangements to evacuate the final batch of Nigerians stranded in South Africa following recent xenophobic attacks and security concerns in parts of the country.

A total of 315 Nigerians are expected to arrive in Lagos on Wednesday aboard an Air Peace flight from Johannesburg.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in a statement issued on Tuesday by its spokesperson, Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa, said the flight would depart Johannesburg at 1:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, and arrive at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, around 6:30 a.m.

The flight marks the fifth and final evacuation exercise organised by the Federal Government for Nigerians who expressed interest in returning home.

The government had earlier conducted four evacuation flights, bringing back hundreds of Nigerians as part of measures to safeguard citizens affected by security challenges in South Africa.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reaffirmed the government’s commitment to protecting Nigerians abroad and appreciated stakeholders involved in the evacuation process.
