Senator representing Borno South, Ali Ndume, has appealed to security agencies to intensify efforts to rescue residents of his constituency still held captive by kidnappers and insurgents.

Ndume made the call during an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Friday, following the release of schoolchildren and teachers abducted in Oyo State after more than 50 days in captivity.

The lawmaker urged the military to redirect attention to Borno South, where he said dozens of residents remain in captivity.

“I want to use this opportunity to appeal to the military to shift their attention now to my senatorial district and help us get these people back,” Ndume said.

The Oyo victims were kidnapped on May 15, 2026, while one of the teachers was later killed by the abductors before the remaining victims regained freedom.

Ndume said several communities in his senatorial district are still affected by abductions, with many residents awaiting rescue.

“Our people, our children in my senatorial district are under captivity, 42 of them. We have over 30 people from Lassa who were captured recently.

“We still have over 50 people in another location who remain in captivity. Some of the over 400 abducted persons were released, but many others are still being held by their kidnappers,” he added.
