The party leaders warned that failure by the governor to align with Accord’s national political direction could force them to support the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, in the next governorship poll.
The warning was contained in a statement jointly signed by the Osun State Public Relations Officer of the party, Daniel Adedayo, and the State Youth Leader, Tolulope Babalola, and made available to journalists in Osogbo.
According to the executives, Governor Adeleke cannot continue to enjoy the political benefits of the Accord platform while supporting political interests outside the party’s national structure.
They insisted that the governor must openly identify with the presidential ambition of Dr. Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim, describing him as the party’s nationally recognised presidential candidate ahead of the 2027 general election.
The statement read in part: “If Governor Adeleke believes President Bola Tinubu deserves another term in office in 2027, then Bola Oyebamiji should also be considered qualified to govern Osun State.”
The party leaders further argued that although Adeleke remains the most prominent political figure in the Accord Party in Osun State, he does not possess the authority to determine the party’s national political direction.
They maintained that every member and stakeholder of the party has a responsibility to uphold the decisions and ideology of the national leadership.
“Governor Adeleke remains only one voice among many in the party nationwide and cannot dictate the direction of the party,” the statement added.
The executives therefore urged the governor to demonstrate loyalty to the Accord Party by supporting Hashim’s presidential aspiration and working towards strengthening the party ahead of the 2027 general election.
The latest development signals deepening divisions within the Accord Party in Osun, raising fresh concerns over party unity as Governor Adeleke prepares for his re-election bid amid shifting political alliances and growing uncertainty over the party’s national cohesion.
